近代日本の小説家、夢野久作の『東京人の堕落時代』（1925）にこんな言葉がある。

「東京はこんな風に、大人の享楽主義の天国であるように、少年少女の花の都である。牛込の神楽坂、渋谷の道玄坂、神田の神保町付近、本郷の湯島天神あたりの夜は、今でもそんな気分の「淀み」を作っている。」

ここでは、関東大震災で崩壊した東京が復興へと向かう様子が描かれる一方、混乱を経て退廃へと向かう文化への危惧が綴られていた。

その危惧から100年が経とうとしている今、道玄坂でカフェの改修を行った。

このカフェはコンセプトカフェと呼ばれるもので、元アイドルを含む女性スタッフがＳＮＳを駆使してダンス動画などで集客を行い、華やかな衣装を着飾ってカウンターに立ち、男女問わず接客を行う。

スタッフの衣装がいくつものレイヤーで可愛く覆い重ねられているように、壁面にアーチやクッション、天井には雲型のものや照明、クロスを多層的に重ねていった。そうすることで、可愛くありつついつまでも本質を掴めないような奥行きを作り出した。中央には弾んだ軌跡を描くサーフボードのようなカウンターを配置し、渋谷の文化が享楽の波に乗っていくような象徴的な存在としている。

またこのカウンターは、スタッフが来店者に上から見られることで、より可愛く見えるように配慮し、天板高さをＦL+1,050として高めに設定した。

ＳＮＳで映え写真・動画を撮ることができる素材（発光サイン、マカロン、ハート鏡、飾り棚）を随所に点在させ、それぞれがキャラ立ちしつつ、それらが煩雑になりすぎないように、色の種類を限定し淡いトーンでまとめた。

都内で進む再開発で「淀み」が消えつつある東京で、道玄坂は貴重な場所の一つとなってきた。そんな時代だからこそ、刹那的で儚い夢のようなこの空間が、また誰かの癒しになると思っている。

“Tokyo is a heaven of adult epicureanism as well as a dazzling capital for boys and girls. The nights around Kagurazaka in Ushigome, Dogenzaka in Shibuya, Jimbocho area in Kanda, and Yushima Tenjin in Hongo still create such a “stagnant mood”.”

Kyūsaku Yumeno, modern Japanese novelist wrote these words in his book "The Fall of the Tokyoites" (1925). Tokyo, a collapsed city after the Great Kanto Earthquake, was described as moving toward recovery, while at the same time expressing fears and concerns about a culture that had gone through turmoil and was heading toward decadence.

100 years after that peril, a cafe renovation project was planned in Dogenzaka, one of the very heavens of adult epicureanism and the dazzling capital of boys and girls.

Here, known as concept café, female staff including ex-idols, use SNS to attract customers through dance videos, stand at the counter dressed in glamorous layered costumes, and serve both male and female customers.

The soft arches and sweet colored cushions on the walls, the cloud-shaped objects, lights and the multi-layered flowy fabrics on the ceiling, also share the vibes of glamorous female staff’s outfits. Those alluring layers of objects also give a sense of depth to the space. A counter is designed in the shape of a surfboard, symbolizing Shibuya's culture as it rides the waves of delightness. The top height of the counter is set higher as FL+1,050 to make staff look gorgeous from customer’s seats.

The eye-catching items such as luminous signs, macaroons, heart shaped mirrors, and display shelves, were scattered in the space to be SNS spots for lots of photos and videos. As its shapes are unique, we tried to limit the colors of all the materials in a light tone to prevent them from becoming too cumbersome.

In Tokyo, where "stagnant mood" is disappearing due to ongoing redevelopment in the city, Dogenzaka has become one of the most precious places. It is precisely because I believe this full of ephemeral dazzling and dreamy space can be a healing place for some boys and girls again.
